Maison Wessman - Saint-Cernin Rouge 2019
Saint-Cernin 2019
A beautifully structured Bergerac red from the historic Château Saint-Cernin, made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on clay-limestone soils. After hand-harvesting and a period of cold pre-fermentation maceration, the wine is aged for 10 months in oak barrels, adding depth and subtle spice to its generous fruit character.
Deep and intense in colour, it opens with powerful aromas of blackcurrant and ripe red fruit, lifted by delicate floral notes. The palate is full and enveloping, with supple yet structured tannins, vibrant freshness and an impressive length. Hints of violet, black pepper and clove add complexity to the juicy dark-fruit core. Elegant, powerful and beautifully balanced, this is a Bergerac with serious ageing potential.
